After your appointment
Aftercare
Temporary swelling, bruising or tenderness is common after treatment. Avoid heat, alcohol and strenuous exercise on the same day. Sleep with your head elevated if advised, and follow all aftercare instructions from your clinician.
The complication worth understanding first
Filler is the treatment where anatomy matters most and where the complication that concerns me is vascular. My background is in vascular surgery, so I would rather a patient understood occlusion before treatment than heard about it afterwards. It is uncommon, and it is manageable when it is recognised early, which depends on who is holding the needle and what they are prepared for. Ask any clinic what their protocol is. If the answer is vague, that is your answer.

Consultation first, then treatment

Treatment is often a single session, staged across two where that produces a better result. The in-person consultation comes first and is not a formality: it is where suitability, anatomy and plan are decided.
Patients travel in from Balderton, Farndon, Collingham and Bingham, and from Southwell, Ollerton, Lincoln and Grantham. Appointments are short, though you should not book anything socially significant for the same evening.
Swelling and small bruises at the injection points are common in the first day or two. Plan the drive home rather than a meeting, and leave a clear fortnight before any event that matters.
