The treatment

How Body Contouring (InShape) works

InShape delivers focused electromagnetic energy to trigger supramaximal muscle contractions, the kind of intense, involuntary contraction that is not achievable through exercise alone. Targeted at areas such as the abs, glutes, thighs or arms, these contractions are designed to build visible tone and muscle definition over a short course of sessions.

Fitting a course around work

The clinic is at 65 London Road, Newark-on-Trent, NG24 1RZ, with free parking at the front.

A short course is what produces visible shaping, so this is a run of appointments rather than a single visit. Sessions are quick and you stay clothed throughout, which makes them easier to slot into a working week than most body treatments.

We see patients from Balderton, Farndon, Collingham, Bingham and Ollerton, and from Lincoln, Grantham and Sleaford over the county line. There is no downtime, so you can come at lunchtime and go back to your afternoon.

If the drive is long, say so when you book the first session and we will group the rest of the course to suit it rather than spreading them across separate weeks unnecessarily.

Common questions

Frequently asked about Body Contouring (InShape)

What does InShape treat?
InShape is designed for people who are already close to their goal weight but want more visible tone and definition in specific areas. It works on muscle rather than fat, so it is not a weight-loss treatment.
How does InShape work?
The device uses focused electromagnetic energy to trigger supramaximal muscle contractions, far more intense than anything achievable through exercise alone. This is what drives visible toning over a course.
Which areas can be treated?
The most commonly treated areas include the abs, glutes, thighs and arms. Your clinician will confirm which areas are appropriate for you at consultation.
Is InShape a weight-loss treatment?
No. It is not a weight-loss treatment. It is designed to improve tone and definition in targeted areas.
How many sessions do I need?
A short course of sessions is usually recommended for visible results, with the exact number tailored to your goals at consultation.
Is there downtime after treatment?
No. Most people return to normal activities straight away, although mild soreness similar to a hard workout can happen.
Who may not be suitable for InShape?
It is not suitable during pregnancy and may be unsuitable if you have metal implants, a pacemaker or certain recent surgeries.
When will I see results?
Results build progressively over roughly 4 to 8 weeks after a course, and are usually at their best when paired with consistent exercise and a sensible diet.
