The treatment
Gynecomastia Consultation: how it works
A gynaecomastia assessment at The London Road Clinic starts with questions: how long your chest has looked this way, whether it has changed or become tender, your weight, any medicines or supplements, and any muscle-building products. Dr Shahe Boghossian then examines the chest to tell glandular tissue from fat, because that decides which options can work. Fat treatments reduce fat; they don't remove gland. If surgery is the right route, Dr Shahe operates at a small number of private hospitals around the country, and discusses the most appropriate one with you at your consultation. Surgery never takes place at the clinic. A lump, nipple discharge or skin changes need your GP first.

Suitable for
- Men aged 18 and over bothered by persistent chest fullness or a breast-like chest contour that has not improved with training or weight loss.
Not suitable for
- Anyone under 18.
- A lump on one side, nipple discharge or bleeding, skin changes, or pain that does not go away. See your GP first.
- Men with unmanaged hormonal imbalance or other findings that need investigation may need a different medical pathway before cosmetic options can be discussed.

Aftercare
There is no aftercare needed for the assessment itself. If surgery or another treatment is chosen, you will be given full treatment-specific recovery and follow-up advice.
Starting with an assessment
The clinic is at 65 London Road, Newark-on-Trent, NG24 1RZ, with free parking at the front.
This begins with one assessment appointment, for men aged 18 and over. What follows depends on what it finds: waiting, a change that removes a likely cause, or surgery where it is the right route. Either way the first visit is a conversation and an examination, nothing more. The £50 assessment fee comes off the cost of treatment if you go ahead.
See your GP first if you have a lump, especially on one side or off-centre from the nipple, nipple discharge or bleeding, skin changes, or pain that doesn’t go away. These need checking before any cosmetic assessment.
Men travel to us from Balderton, Farndon, Collingham, Southwell, Bingham and Ollerton, and from Lincoln, Grantham and Sleaford.
Come with a sense of how long it has been there and whether it has changed, because that history shapes the assessment more than anything we can see on the day.
