LipoContrast in Newark: What Non-Surgical Fat Reduction Can and Cannot Do
LipoContrast is not liposuction, not a weight-loss treatment and not an injectable. What thermal-shock fat reduction does to a pinchable pocket, how long the change takes, who it suits, and the four situations where we say no.

Two people can book the same treatment for opposite reasons, and one of them is going to be disappointed. That is the risk with non-surgical fat reduction more than with anything else on our menu, so the consultation for it spends most of its time on expectations rather than on the device.
The first person has lost three stone, kept it off for a year, and has a pocket below the navel that has not moved with any of it. The second wants to lose three stone and has read that a machine might start the process. LipoContrast is a good answer for the first and the wrong answer for the second, and no amount of technique closes that gap.
What LipoContrast does
LipoContrast targets localised, pinchable fat pockets using a controlled thermal cycle: the tissue is warmed, then cooled intensely, then warmed again. That cycle is designed to trigger apoptosis in the fat cells within the treated area, which the body then clears gradually over the following weeks. It sits in the cryolipolysis family of treatments, though the heat phases either side of the cooling are what distinguish this device from cooling alone.
The areas it is used for are the ones where fat is discrete and grippable: lower abdomen, flanks, back rolls, thighs and arms. A session runs around an hour per area.
There is no cutting, no anaesthetic and no recovery to plan around. Some temporary redness, numbness or tenderness in the treated area is normal afterwards.
The treatment page carries the full specification, and the patient guide to LipoContrast covers the mechanism in more depth.
The four treatments it gets confused with
Liposuction. Different category entirely. Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed under anaesthetic that physically removes fat through a cannula, with the recovery and the risk profile that implies. LipoContrast removes nothing on the day. It provokes a biological process and waits. The volume of change is smaller, the timescale is weeks rather than immediate, and there is no operation. We do not offer surgery and would refer anyone whose goal needs it.
Weight-loss injections. A different mechanism aimed at a different problem. GLP-1 medication reduces body weight across the whole body, including places you might not want it reduced. LipoContrast changes contour in one defined area and does nothing to your weight. Several patients now come to us mid-way through a course of weight-loss medication asking about a pocket that has stayed put while everything around it went, and that is a reasonable use of this treatment. It is worth knowing that rapid weight loss changes the face as well as the body, which we cover in the Profhilo Structura guide.
Injectable fat dissolving. Some clinics treat small fat pockets with an injected solution rather than an external device. That is a different modality with a different risk and downtime profile, and it is not what we do here. Ours is external, non-invasive and needle-free.
Muscle-stimulating body treatments. Frequently confused with fat reduction and aimed at the opposite target. InShape builds and tones muscle; LipoContrast reduces a fat pocket. Neither does the other’s job, which is why the InShape and LipoContrast comparison exists.
How long it takes to see anything
Typically one to three sessions per area, spaced around four weeks apart, with change developing gradually across roughly two to eight weeks or longer as the body clears the treated cells.
That timescale is the single most common source of dissatisfaction, and it is worth being blunt about it. You will not walk out looking different. You will not look different the following week. Photographs at week two often show nothing at all. The change, where it comes, arrives quietly over a couple of months and is more often noticed in how clothes sit than in the mirror.
Take your own photographs before the first session, in the same light and the same position, because a slow change is exactly the kind your eye adapts to and stops registering.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits an adult close to their goal weight with a defined, pinchable pocket that has resisted diet and training. That is the whole brief. The clearer the edges of the pocket, the better this treatment performs.
It does not suit anyone using it as a weight-loss tool, and we will say so at consultation rather than sell a course that will not do what someone is hoping for. It is not appropriate in pregnancy. It may not be suitable where there is a cold-sensitivity disorder, and full suitability is confirmed at consultation.
Results can last where weight stays stable. Where weight climbs afterwards, remaining fat cells enlarge and the contour change is lost. That is not a caveat in the small print, it is the main determinant of whether this was worth your money.
If the concern turns out to be loose skin rather than fat, or cellulite rather than volume, this is the wrong device and we will point you at a different one. Telling those apart by eye is unreliable, which is what the assessment is for. The stubborn fat concern page sets out how we separate them.
Booking it around a working life in Newark
We are at 65 London Road, Newark-on-Trent, NG24 1RZ, on the A46 approach with free parking at the front rather than a town-centre car park. Opening hours run to 20:00 Monday to Thursday, 09:00 to 16:00 on Friday and 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.
An hour per area, no downtime, and one to three sessions spaced a month apart makes this one of the easier treatments to fit around work. There is nothing to recover from and nothing to hide afterwards, so an evening appointment and a normal morning after it is realistic. Patients travel in from Southwell in around 15 minutes, from Lincoln in around 25 down the A46, and from Balderton, Farndon, Collingham, Bingham and Ollerton within a similar run. Our Southwell clinic page and Lincoln clinic page cover the routes and the wider menu.
LipoContrast starts from £350. The number of areas and the number of sessions are agreed at consultation once we have assessed the area, and we would rather quote after seeing it than before.
